Lariat necklaces were fashionable in the Victorian era and have made return in the last 5 years. It is difficult to find such unusual necklaces that are not expensive designer items.
'Lariat' is another word for a lasso tied rope and you can see why when looking at the knots displayed here.
Tip: Where ever the lariat necklace crosses or ties, make sure it does it in a gap, rather than where the beads are. This way the necklace will always lie flat and will not slip.

Ideas on how to tie your lariat necklace [ pdf - 105kb]
-

Style 1
Fold lariat necklace in half, put around your neck and pop the ends through the loop.
-

Style 2
Wrap lariat necklace once around your neck (crossing at the back), bring ends to the front. Tie a half hitch over BOTH the free end and the loop already round your neck.
Wiggle the lariat a bit to get the two strands even. Tying the lariat this way will stop it from “walking” and tightening around your neck - a good one if you do not like chokers.

Style 3
Wrap lariat necklace once around your neck (crossing at the back), bring the ends to the front and tie in a half hitch.
Style 4
Place around your neck like a neck tie, and tie in a half hitch. (Tip: placing the knot at different heights will give you many different looks!)
Necklace - Lariat
An open ended necklace, the lariat is designed to be loosely tied in a variety of ways. Glass beads are strung on a fine nylon coated wire to prevent the lariat necklace from kinking. Really unusual. Price Each.
